Happy Easter everyone! We hope you’ve been having a Good, even splendid Friday, getting ready for a long weekend of happy family get togethers and chocolatey excess. The Easter bunny is busy hiding lots of treats around our Terrace, so we hope we’ll see you at 4pm tomorrow for an eggciting hunt!
If you haven’t made plans for Sunday, there may still be a spot for you in our Dining Room as we’re extending our Easter lunch service until 7pm – but book fast! The set menu’s a real Spring celebration, and for smaller tummies there’s a children’s menu with pint-sized portions of grown-up favourites. To keep the big kids happy as well as the little ones, there’s delicious handmade Easter eggs from Patisserie Lingaud for everyone.
If you need any other excuse to pop in, we’ll be showing the Boat Race on our big screen, and we’ve got Old Dairy Brewery’s Spring Top on draught, bursting with sunshine flavours. Of course, no Easter would be complete without hot cross buns, so we’ll be serving them – smothered in creamy South Downs butter – all weekend.
The daffs are out, the sheep are lambing and the grass is riz. As we breathe a sigh of relief for the longer evenings and wave goodbye to woolly jumpers, here’s what else you can look forward to at The Milk House:
You can now book a table or a room at The Milk House at any time that suits you! You don’t have to worry about us answering the telephone, picking up messages or getting back to emails, because you can book directly through our website. Of course, if you’d prefer to call us, we’d love to hear from you and we do check all our messages as often as we can outside lunch and dinner services. If you’re planning to get away this season (and our enormous beds and bigger bathrooms aren’t temptation enough!), it’s bulb month down at Sissinghurst Castle – with talks, classes and workshops through the week. The sight of green shoots has got us feeling green-fingered, so this sounds right up our street. It’s also literally down the road…
We hope your taste buds are tingling…!
Giddy up, get your bets in and join us at TMH to watch the Grand National on our big screen at 5.15pm!
We’ll be stoking up the pizza oven in time for the May Bank Holiday Weekend, with new wood-fired delights. Don’t worry, though – the old favourites haven’t left. After a long hibernation, the Happy Piggy and the Plucky Hen are coming back to a plate near you.
We thought this would be a great opportunity to have a party, in true Italian style. So join us on Saturday 30 April for a pizza the action, a pint of Peroni, a glass of Pinot Grigio and some perfect Mediterranean weather (promise). Who better to bring Italy to life in idyllic Kent, but the Kent Ferrari Club? We’ll have ten of these fine pieces of art and motor in our car park. So come and admire, and celebrate la dolce vita!
On Sunday 1 May, we’ll be reverting to our Kentish roots, thanks to the Weald of Kent Morris men who are leading us into dance at 1pm. Get your handkerchiefs ready so you don’t miss out on the May Day merriment!
Whether you’re joining us for lunch or dinner, a weekend away, or just dropping by for a pint, be sure to check out the artwork adorning our wallsfrom Rye-based artist and printmaker Will Taylor. Will’s a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art and the Rye Society of Artists. He exhibits regularly across Kent, East Sussex and London, has had solo gallery shows in London and Tunbridge Wells and has shown at the Mall Galleries, Affordable Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery and the Royal Academy. His work explores traditional techniques in etching, pen and charcoal, always with a strong element of draughtsmanship.
Save the date for this year’s Milk Fest, our annual four-day feel good festival of food and music for all the family. Last year was fab and this year’s set to be just as much fun.
