Mamma Mia! As summer heats up, it’s only a matter of days until our wood-fired pizza oven brings a taste of the Mediterranean to Sissinghurst. The fire is stoked, we’ve stocked up on olive oil and from Monday you’ll be able to sample our menu! There’s the Curious Goat, the Angry Ox and the Plucky Hen… Can you see a theme emerging? Our pizzas are perfect for sharing over a drink this summer, but you’ll probably want one of your own for lunch or dinner. We hope you’ll also save room to try cute tub of Cool Britannia or Bodiam ice cream on our terrace…!
 
And, as the days stretch out ever further, there’s plenty more on the horizon. On Sunday 15 June we’ll be serving drinks from a pop-up bar at the Sissinghurst Classic Car Show. We’ll be offering beer and wine behind the bar while encouraging the serious driving enthusiasts to opt for one of our non-alcoholic options (much easier to forgo when you’ve got refreshing elderflower cordial as an alternative). Also, just to remind you (and we’re sure you hadn’t forgotten, anyway) it’s Father’s Day on Sunday 15 June too – so don’t forget to book a table for dad!

We’re sure you’ll want to make the most of our garden when the sun is shining, but do make sure you step inside for a moment to have a look at the work of local artist Sandy Dooley, now adorning the walls of The Milk House. Sandy’s play of light and shadow, evoking the colours, smells and visual richness of the countryside, is wonderfully vibrant and her work is getting us in the mood for summer!
 
Meanwhile, as football fever sweeps across the country with the imminent arrival of the World Cup, we’d like to take this opportunity to assure you that we’ll be showing all the England matches on the big screen, with plenty of celebratory/consolatory drinks to hand. And speaking of disappointments (not that we haven’t betted on an effortless triumph for England), on Sunday 22 June the pub will be closed from 5pm as we’re hosting a summer party for all our staff to return our thanks for all their hard work. We hope this isn’t too much of an inconvenience.

Finally, we’d like to drop you a not-so-subtle reminder that the Kent Life Food & Drink Awards are approaching, and that The Milk House fulfils the criteria to be nominated as Newcomer of the Year… We’ve so enjoyed joining the community in the rollercoaster ride that began last September and your support would mean a lot to us!
