With Winter finally upon us, we’re planning to make sure that time skips on to Spring just as soon as it can. We’ve lined up a calendar of events that we hope has something for everyone – and brightens the greyer days! So here’s nine good reasons to brave the cold and venture over to The Milk House this season:
We think one of the best things about Winter is finding delicious local ingredients that warm us from the inside out. We hope you’ll take comfort in our new midwinter menus packed with hearty dishes to suit the season. On our Dining Menu you’ll find rosemary lamb shank pie and sage & cider pork belly, or if you’re simply grazing on bites in the bar, there’s Kentish cheese fondue and Park Farm sausage rolls!
Our puds include a tempting baklava cheesecake and a comforting rhubarb & pomegranate cobbler. But if you’re being virtuous this month after all the excesses of December, there are delicious wholesome dishes too… Perhaps our puy lentil, celeriac, hazelnut, apple & mint salad will take your fancy?
If you’re planning to join us for lunch or dinner, don’t forget you can now book online for parties of less than ten at www.themilkhouse.co.uk/book
During the Winter months, we welcome large bookings and we’re delighted that Age Concern are hosting their annual fundraising lunch with us this month for the third consecutive year. We’re also looking forward to being joined by Gardening for Disabled Trust, for their first annual lunch and marmalade contest(!)… If you’d like to discuss an event you’re planning, do drop us an email at fresh@themilkhouse.co.uk.
We’re laying on a six-course feast of love in our Dining Room this Valentine’s Day packed with indulgent delights. From champagne on arrival to ‘kisses’ with coffee, the menu is ‘pretty in pink’, promising a brush with romance for everyone!
Celebrate the special date early on Saturday 13 February, or join us on Sunday 14 February for Valentine’s evening when it’s about more than just the food of love… We’ve got the music too, harpist Amy Turk will joining us to perform her own arrangements of your favourite love songs.
To make the whole weekend extra amorous, we’ve also teamed up with theHerbert Hall Winery in Marden to offer two free Club HH memberships with every bottle of Herbert Hall Brut Rose enjoyed on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We think that there is nothing that typifies romance better than a bottle of sparkling pink wine!
Club HH benefits include exclusive invitations to winery tastings and events, free private tours with the winemakers and 20% off all Herbert Hall’s award-winning English sparkling wines. What a treat!
If you’re really in the mood for love, why not take advantage of the low season room rates we’re offering until March by booking a romantic weekend away? Or, take your luck by entering Sainsbury’s Magazine’s competition to win a three-course dinner at The Milk House, an overnight stay in one of our four beautiful bedrooms, a visit to Herbert Hall winery and Club HH membership too! Banish Winter blues with our new Milk House midweek mingles every Wednesday from 6pm. We’ll pull the pints while you catch up with friends and neighbours – and if you fancy some sustenance to complement the conversation, tuck into complimentary bar bites.
On the first Wednesday of every month, we’ll be laying on acoustics from local musicians too, so there’s no excuse to withdraw this Winter. Next up, on Wednesday 3 February, Toby Bromfield will be singing live from 6.30pm. Toby’s influenced by jazz styles and will be performing an acoustic set of contemporary covers from varying genres, putting his own twist on many tunes.
Our seasonal get togethers are all about the community, so if you’d like to use one of our Wednesdays for a charity raffle, a fund-raising quiz, or anything else… just email the team.
As always, we hope to see you soon!
Best wishes,
Team Milk House
