It’s still scorching and we’re loving these longer, warmer days! Who doesn’t prefer to dine al fresco?
In the spirit of summer, we’ve launched new seasonal menus packed with bold and colourful dishes and exciting flavours. There’s lots of delicious things to choose from, but our favourites include:
If all these sunshine flavours have got you in the mood for some summer sounds, join us this Friday 23 June from 8pm for a midsummer’s evening of music with four-piece funk, rock and pop band Indigo Sea with an acoustic warm up from Nick Eve!
But most exciting of all, it’s happening people! Milk Fest is back and better than ever. We’ve pinned down the schedule and we can’t wait.
In celebration of all the good things in life, we hope you’ll enjoy our four-day full fat festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Kicking off on Friday 25 August, we’re planning a long weekend of fun all the way through to Monday 28 August. It’s set to be a feel good feast of fun for the whole family.
We’ve put together a programme that showcases the cream of Kent, with music from top local talent and fabulous food and drink from some of our wonderful suppliers. From cocktails to hot dogs, face-painting to juggling, there’ll be something to put a smile on everyone’s face.
To mark the occasion, we’ll also be putting our Full Fat Festival Top back on tap at a cheap and beerful £3.50/pint. A tipple or two of this bespoke Kentish bitter, crafted just for us by Old Dairy Brewery, is sure to get you in the party mood. So bring a rug, make yourself comfortable, tuck into some fine festival fodder and enjoy the tunes! If you’d like to know more, read on below…
We hope you’re enjoying the weather and – as always – we hope to see you soon!
Milk Fest kicks off on Friday night with some very special summer spritzers, colourful cocktails created to make your evening sparkle. Let your hair down and have fun with a flamboyant Flushed Flamingo, an exotic Tipsy Toucan or a raucous Crocked Canary. As the sun sets over the Terrace, there’ll be music from singer/songwriters Nick Eve and Pete Gardiner, followed by some high-energy funk, pop and rock from Indigo Sea. A perfect start to your long weekend!
Ahoy there! On Saturday, it’s all hands on deck for a day of swashbuckling family fun. Grab your flip-flops and drop your anchor in a deckchair while the kids enjoy the bouncy sandcastle, face-painting and hunt for buried treasure in the sandpit. There’ll be jolly entertainment from the energetic Bazazi Brothers too, with a performance and workshop hosted by Applause Outdoors. Expect dancing, juggling, diabolo and more!
If all that leaves you feeling peckish, tuck into sizzling sausages from the full-fat festival BBQ menu, taking centre stage on our terrace from midday to 9pm. Naturally all pirates love pudding, so shiver your timbers whippy ice cream too. There’ll be a feast for the ears, too, with acoustics from Finlay Leslie, Daniel Glover, and Some Anyone before Josh Renton & The Wildfires, Narratones and the Devil’s Cut Combo rock us into the evening!
Festival fever continues in Sissinghurst on Sunday with a ‘homegrown and handmade’ fair showcasing some of our favourite local people. Sample some of the fine Kent produce featured on our seasonal menus from Moons Green Charcuterie, Claire’s Bread, Wylde & Shrub, Kent Crisps and Speakeasy Ice Creams then wash it all down with an artisanal G&T from Anno Distillers’ or a cuppa cold brew from Debonair Tea.
You’ll also have a chance to meet Romney Marsh Wools – who supply our luxurious lanolin bath products – and Betty & Dodge, who create gorgeous hand-engraved items from English oak. Alongside all this, artist Sandy Dooley will be displaying her colourful paintings inspired by the local landscape and encouraging all our visitors to leave their mark on a collaborative canvas.
Running alongside this artisan fair, there’ll be performances from Ramblin’ Rags, Alana Hazzard, Orfila and Milky Negro, with The Caress, Caleb Howard-Almond and The Bay Rays bringing the night to an exuberant conclusion. Meanwhile our full-fat festival BBQ will continue to cook up chargrilled treats. What better way to while away your Sunday?
