Easter 2014

Posted on 12 Apr 2014 in Pub | Comments Off on Easter 2014

Spring has arrived, and things are blossoming at The Milk House. There have been lots of exciting developments over the past few weeks – and we have an abundance of events lined up that we hope will give you the chance to make the most of the longer, warmer days.

We’ve created a new menu to match the season. After a Winter of warm hues and hearty flavours, we’re now going for fresher, lighter Spring ingredients, guided by the delicious seasonal produce that our local suppliers provide. We’re particularly excited about our new starter of Moons Green cured pork with micro cress and Kentish Blue cheese and also our apple-wood smoked Park Farm beef fillet steak – we hope you’ll drop by to sample them.

As you may have noticed, we’ve finally broken ground in the garden. Though the mud-to-grass ratio might not seem promising at the moment, ambitious plans are afoot, under the expert guidance of local landscape gardener Kate Ball. Over the coming weeks you’ll see a transformation – and soon you’ll be able to enjoy a new bar, an authentic pizza oven and even a community herb plot. Roll on Summer!

Luckily we still have plenty of outdoor space, so on the morning of Easter Sunday we’ll be using the children’s play area for an egg hunt between 9.30am and 11am. We’re also going to be visited by some real Easter bunnies, lambs and chickens, which kids – and adults! – will be able to feed. We’ll be serving buttery hot-cross buns all weekend – and keep your eyes peeled for our full Easter lunch menu, which will soon be up on our website.

We were in the news last month, after hosting the Telegraph’s travel critic Fiona Duncan. Fiona very much enjoyed her stay, and we were delighted with her write-up, in which she described The Milk House as “the perfect place to stay in order to visit Sissinghurst, Bodiam Castle and the Kent Weald”. We hope you agree!

If you don’t want to have to wait for the monthly newsletter, you can now keep track of everything that’s happening here on our new Facebook and Twitter pages – follow the links below to take a look! Polly the puppy, who’s recently joined The Milk House family, is going down particularly well on Facebook. We’re anticipating that she’ll soon become an internet phenomenon but she’s always delighted to meet fans in person too so pop in for a pat with your pint.
