Comments Off on Christmas & New Year at The Milk House
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, packed with fairs and festivities, carols and nativities. And – in case there weren’t enough excuses to eat, drink and be merry this month – there’s plenty going on at The Milk House!
Alongside festive treats across our Winter menus, we’ve put together a range of special party menus to suit groups large and small, guaranteed to get you in a merry mood. Our twice-baked stilton soufflé will tickle any taste buds, while our royal roast is a three-bird triumph.
Behind the bar, there are tipples to tantalise…. why not crack open the Chapel Down Brut, or spice up your life with a DIY Winter Warmer*?
*TMH translation: a delicious mug of mulled cider flavoured with seasonal spices and fresh apple juice, enhanced – as you desire – with cinnamon sugar, star anise, orange wedges and more!
What else have we got in store? The Christmas calendar is packed with carolling, concerts and celebrations, long lazy lunches and libations. There’s more information about each exciting event below, so read on!
We’re also celebrating our first Christmas at The Barrow House in Egerton. If you want to learn more about our brand new baby sis, check out the Ashford Herald’s fabulous feature – or wet the baby’s head by paying her a visit. You can also find The Barrow House on Facebook and Twitter.
We hope to see you under the mistletoe!
Best wishes,
Team Milk House

There’s no chance of a silent night in Sissinghurst this Thursday as brass players from
Cranbrook Town Band will be joining us to play some yuletide tunes on trombone.
THIS FRIDAY 16 DECEMBER
A CHORUS OF CAROLS WITH TRINITY CHURCH 7.30pm
This Friday carol singers from Trinity Church will be filling The Milk House with Christmas cheer. This year the group are raising money in aid of
Maidstone Day Centre, with every hope of bringing more joy to the world. We ding dong merrily hope you’ll join the chorus round a crackling fire!
CHRISTMAS EVE
TINSEL TUNES & CHRISTMAS JUMPER PARADE 7pm–1am
Take the evening off to prepare for all the excitement of Christmas morning and join us for a big bash on Christmas Eve in our extra large marquee bar. Make merry with family or with friends, eat, drink and enjoy the tinsel tunes. Feeling competitive? Don your favourite Christmas jumper and join the parade at 9pm. Best in show will win big with a prize that will put Rudolf in his place.
CHRISTMAS DAY
BAR OPEN FOR BOARD GAMES & BEVERAGES 11am–4pm
Our bar will be open on Christmas Day, so if it all gets too much at home we hope you’ll meet us under the mistletoe – the perfect hiding spot from the heat of the kitchen and family disputes over Scrabble!
BOXING DAY
LONG LAZY LUNCH 12–6pm
With Christmas Day invariably indoors, there’s nothing like a walk in the country on Boxing Day. After all that fresh air you’ll need a drink and a bite to eat. Save the recycled turkey for another day and make the most of our long lazy lunch service from 12–6pm…
NEW YEAR’S EVE
MAGICAL EARLY ‘EVE LUNCH 12–4pm
If you prefer to celebrate New Year’s Eve as a family during the day, book a table in our Dining Room for a magical lunch on the 31st designed to delight the little ones! Alongside our delicious seasonal dishes, from 12–4pm we’ll be serving a generous course of entertainment straight to the table. Just make sure you’ve finished your lunch in time for a glittering array of family fireworks at 5pm!
NEW YEAR’S EVE
ALPINE FEAST IN THE DINING ROOM 8pm
Join us for a dining adventure fresh off the slopes! For New Year’s Eve, we’ve put together a
special six-course feast of culinary delights inspired by Alpine holidays. There are still a few tables left, but book soon if you’re hoping to schnapps one up. After dinner, take your piste-weary legs to the dance floor for an après ski party as fun as a bubbling fondue….
NEW YEAR’S EVE
APRES SKI SNOW PARTY 8pm–2am
Dust off those lederhosen, grab your goggles and join the Sissinghurst après ski party on New Year’s Eve. We’ll be putting a cosy marquee over the terrace, with toasty mushrooms heaters so there’s no need for the thermals. There’ll be shots galore (served in skis) and a show-stopping vodka ice luge to guarantee a slippery slope from sobriety.
We’ve also lined up live music from the marvellous Carly Bryant and Melody 101. The band have rounded up the funkiest players they know and chosen all the songs you want to scream the choruses to. Expect disco, cheesy pop and rock and rock and roll – and lots of dancing. As midnight approaches there’s only one place to be…!
NEW YEAR’S DAY
LONG LUNCH 12–4pm
If you’re feeling a little delicate after all that revelry, we’ve got just the thing. With plenty of Bloody Marys to soothe sore heads and a long lunch from 12–4pm, we’ll make sure you have a perfect start to 2017.
MONDAY 2 JANUARY
BANK HOLIDAY LUNCH LAST HURRAH 12–4pm
The party season’s not over yet! We’re serving lunch until 4pm so round up friends and family for a final festive get together on Bank Holiday Monday.
