Try as we might to hang onto Summer’s final morsels, Mother Nature’s failing to comply. So we’re grabbing Autumn by the horns and thinking about all the things that make England’s temperate seasons so special.
We’re looking forward to the earthy scent of fallen leaves, the lengthening shadows, the ochre and indigo sunsets, and we know – as the hedgerows don their Autumnal apparel – more wonderful Kentish produce is coming into season!
We’re one week into the launch of our latest seasonal menu, packed with hearty flavours to warm the soul. Our five new menus are full of seasonal delights including a tasty TMH take on the Scotch egg, with puy lentils in the place of sausage, ideal for lazy grazing in our bar with a pint of Old Dairy Brewery’s limited edition Green Hop ale.
In our Dining Room, we hope you’ll be tempted by three-bird ravioli in Bull Shot broth, maple-cured quail wrapped in pancetta with chestnut crumble, slow-cooked Old Spot casserole, or luxurious lobster mac ‘n’ cheese.
Our puds include Kentish apple, pear & ginger crumble topped with oat, cobnut & honey granola, poached figs on cinnamon gypsy toast, plum, blackberry & amaretto trifle, and terrific toffee apple ice cream.
For the icing on our Autumnal cake, we’ve made it even easier to book for lunch or dinner through our website. It’s super simple, with the option to make special requests for special occasions – but course, if you’d rather, we’re still delighted to chat over the telephone and help you make a booking.
As with all good things, there are compromises to be made, so as we make way for Autumn, it’s sadly time to bid ‘arrivederci’ to the Angry Ox, Curious Goat and the Happy Piggy. We wish our wood-fired farmyard an enjoyable hibernation and our pizza oven a well-deserved break until Spring 2016. Grab a final pizza the action on Sunday 27 September when things will be getting hot hot hot for the last time!
It might feel a bit early, but we all know thatChristmas has a habit of creeping up on us – so we’ve been busy making plans for a very special season. We’re lining up plenty to ensure great merriment in Sissinghurst this December.
Most exciting of all, our Party Barn will be back this year – and it’ll be even bigger and better than before, taking pride of place on our terrace throughout December and over Christmas and New Year.
If you’re looking to arrange a big brilliant bash, you’ll want to check it out. The space is available as a unique and exclusive venue for up to 100 people. We’ll lay on party food, and drink – and if you’re looking for entertainment, you can leave that to us too – taking the pain out of planning so the only headache you’ll have is the one you’ll wake up to the next day.
There’s only five weeks left until Sissinghurst Castle & Gardens close for Winter. If you don’t want to miss out this year – or if you need an excuse to plan a comfortable and relaxing mid-week break – we’re delighted to let you know that when you stay with us for two nights between Monday and Thursday, we’d like to treat you to dinner in our Dining Room!
As always, we hope to see you soon.
