Autumn 2014

Posted on 08 Oct 2014 in Pub | Comments Off on Autumn 2014

We can’t believe it’s already October and that the fields and hedgerows around us are donning their Autumnal apparel. Thanks to everyone who wished us a Happy 1stBirthday last month and to Sissinghurst’s Flossie Pops Cakery for providing the scrummy cupcakes!

We’ve very excited to have launched our seasonal Autumn menus with new additions across our offering to include a TMH fish finger sandwich with Harveys beer-battered cod that’s fast becoming a favourite!

In the Dining Room, you’ll find warm, earthy flavours with cobnuts from nearby Potash Farm and Ellie’s Dairy goat cheese, alongside fennel, fig and port. We’ve managed to source 80% of the ingredients from a 20-mile radius, and we hope you can taste the difference!

As we look forward to the Cranbrook Apple Fair, we’ve also introduced two new local ciders to our bar from local Gibbet Oak and Wise Owl Cider. And there’s a new artist adorning our walls too – we hope you’ll pop by to see Julia Ball’s landscape-inspired print series ‘Coast’.

As we all know, Christmas has a habit of creeping up on us – so we’ve been busy making plans for this very special season. From crackers and carols to mulled cider and roast chestnuts, we’re lining up plenty to ensure great merriment at The Milk House this December with some exciting plans for New Year’s Eve to get 2015 off with a bang! We’ve also come up with a range of menus to help every group of friends, family and work colleagues celebrate the festive season with us.

For parties of 8–16, there’s a Set Menu with 2 courses for £20, 3 courses for £26 and – for those who really want to push the sleigh out! – 3 courses with Prosecco and coffee for £32. The menu’s packed with seasonal treats, including an extravagant royal roast and luxurious mince pies, served in the jolly surroundings of our Dining Room.

For larger groups, or those who fancy something a bit more relaxed, in the bar we’re offering a Bowl Food Menu to suit parties of 10–30. For £10/person, Christmas revellers can enjoy party favourites, such as Thai green curry and boeuf bourguignon. With three bowls a head, we know you’ll have a hearty party!

If you’re planning a drinks party at The Milk House this December, why not complement your Christmas tipple with a selection of bar snacks from our Grazing Menu at £8/person. In the spirit of giving and due to demand, we’ll be bringing back some of your favourites from 2014, including our popular pink salt and pepper squid!

We’ll be serving food every day throughout the holiday period, with the exception of Christmas Day. The bar will still be open, however, so if it all gets too much at home we hope you’ll meet us under the mistletoe – the perfect hiding spot from the heat of the kitchen and disputes over Scrabble with relatives!

With all this on the horizon, Team TMH is expanding its kitchen team.  We’re on a special lookout for chefs with experience of working in a fast-paced kitchen who support our culture of freshly-prepared local food. No experience of cooking partridges or pear trees necessary, but an enthusiasm to learn is essential! So send us your CV today.

Finally, if you’ve enjoyed the last twelve months at The Milk House as much as we have, we’d really appreciate your vote in the 2015 Taste of Kent Awards where we’re up for Dining Pub of the Year. If we make the shortlist, we promise to celebrate with all of you in style!
