Meet the new member of our family!

You might have heard the rumours… it’s true, we’ve been expecting for the last few months. Now at last, after a summer of preparations, lots of labour and dozens of deliveries – we’re excited to share the news that there is a new addition to our pub family…!

The Milk House has a brand new baby sister – she’s called The Barrow House, we think she’s beautiful, and we hope you’ll agree. She’s still taking her first steps, but she’s already attracting plenty of admirers and would love to meet you lot – our friends, family and favourite guests.

The Barrow House is in an idyllic village called Egerton, halfway between Maidstone and Ashford. Egerton is about 15–20mins drive from The Milk House (depending on how much farm traffic you encounter en route), and – much like Sissinghurst – it’s a village known for its thriving community spirit, as much as its picturesque cottages and local history.

From the farmers market every Friday to cricket matches in the summer, there’s always plenty going on. We’re looking forward to getting stuck in and we’re enormously grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received so far. We know you’ll love it too.

A fortnight ago we poured our first pints of Barrow House Brew, and earlier this week we introduced a delicious menu. You’ll recognise the same emphasis on flavour, quality and seasonal ingredients that we value at The Milk House, as well as some of the dishes. But over in Egerton lunch and dinner is a bit more casual, with small plates designed for snacking and sharing, alongside smoking flavours, chargrilled treats and tempting puds. Hot salt beef sandwich anyone?

The Barrow House will be open all day, seven days a week, for everything from coffee in the morning, a few pints after work or drinks after dinner to tasty bar snacks, perfect pub lunches and delicious roasts on Sunday. There’s also a great children’s menu with healthy choices for little tummies (and some less healthy gingerbread dinosaurs).

Upstairs there are three beautiful bedrooms at The Barrow House, all with luxurious en suite bathrooms and enormous beds to ensure the most comfortable overnight stay or relaxing weekend getaway. You’d be very welcome to pop in and take a peek!

Meanwhile, back in Sissinghurst, we’re gearing up for Christmas at The Milk House with plenty of plans underway to create a splendid season of celebration with a range of menus to suit parties of all sizes. Do get in touch if you’d like to chat about your plans.
